Blakeney Point

Blakeney Point is a shingle spit off the North Norfolk Coastline at the village of Blakeney.

The spit itself was formed by the process of Long shore drift - a common erosion problem along this stretch of coastline

Blakeney Point is managed by the National Trust as part of The Blakeney National Nature Reserve and has been since the trust took over the job of looking after the site in 1912.

A favourite with tourists visting the village, the point contains seal breeding and bird nesting grounds.

Many boat trips run out to the spit, to allow visitors to catch a glimpse of the seal in their natural habitat, and to visit the former lifeboat house, which has been converted into a visitors centre.
